In the beginning, after being influenced from the shadows that she observed on the grass of trees, she worked for months to develop a technique which does not portray the subject in a 2-dimensional picture. Instead, the object is transformed into a re-creation of itself in which the painting transforms into the medium for it's own painterly interpretation, especially in the case of live or perishable objects for example, like humans or fruits. Alexa's style of painting exhibits a hazy quality and all remaining of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Since the painting and photographic methods are closely coordinated and result in the trompe-l'oeil effect in which the illusion of 3D appears only at specific points, such as the area around the eyes and the hair. Meade can sometimes incorporate her painted model into the environment around her, which allows for them to interact within their own world. The line that separates painting and photography is removed.
